Documents relating to Henry Robinson's role in creating the first English Post Office including: (1) a copy of a petition from Henry Robinson to Charles II with a copy (on verso) of the parliamentary resolution of December 17, 1660 to reward those who have improved the revenue of the Post Office; (2) is another copy of the resolution of December 17, 1660; (3) "The Case and Title of Henry Robinson of London Esquire unto a Deputation and Management of both the Letter Offices..." with Henry Robinson's signature; (4) petition from Dorothy Robinson, widow, to Charles II, with a note at bottom from Lord Coventry dated July 18, 1676; (5-7) three copies of a petition from Henry Robinson's children, Henry Robinson and Dorothy Merry, to Charles II, undated, original date ca. 1665 (according to the Calendar of state papers domestic), (6) and (7) are endorsed "A coppy of the Petition I deliuer'd to the King with my fathers printed case"; (8) copy of a petition from Henry Robinson's grandson, Richard Brickenden to the House of Commons, undated; (9) a copy of a petition from Henry Robinson to the King for letters patent to create the Bank of England, undated (ca. April 10, 1666, according to the Calendar of state papers domestic).

Henry Robinson, merchant and law reformer, was first believed to have died around 1664, but according to the Oxford DNB he did not die until 1673. Robinson contended that he held the office of Postmaster-General from 'the first assembling of the Long Parliament' until 1644 and had increased its revenues during this time.
